Follow these few steps to create your branded version of Kaboom Organizer
5.5
If you haven't done so already, register
and download your FREE Kaboom Organizer 5.5 (760KB). For installation
instructions click here.
If you have already installed Kaboom, you can personalize the image that
Kaboom displays in your diary. Your photo/logo will need to be a 100x50
(100 pixels wide and 50 pixels high) bitmap (bmp) image.

It's quick and easy -- Use Windows explorer to locate the files that
we need. Kaboom is installed in C:\Program Files\Kaboom_v55, unless you
specified otherwise during installation. Locate and double click on the
file "spon.txt" It should automatically be opened in "Notepad".
If not, use any text editing program loaded on your machine.
The "spon.txt" file contains the following entries:
- Site Name: This is name displayed in the "Links" dropdown
menu within the program.
- Message: This is the message displayed when your mouse hovers over
your logo when within the program
- Image: This is the name of the image that contains your logo
(*more information about this image is explained below)
- URL: This is the Internet address that will link all your users directly
to your site when using the program. The link is activated when a user
clicks on your logo or on your site's name in the links drop-menu.
- Ref: This is the Refer ID we use to track searches on the Win4Win
search engine.
By default the information contained is that pertaining to Win4Win.com,
but you will need to alter this if you intend to Co-Brand the Organizer.
Changing Kaboom's links and message.
You will need to change the information to reflect the name of your
site, your site's message, the name of your logo's image (.bmp) file and
your site's URL. Finally to receive commission for the searches made using
your Co-Branded Kaboom you will need to supply your Win4Win username.
If you do not have a username already, one will be supplied to you when
you download your copy of Kaboom.
All the colored entries should be altered as displayed in the image
below.

Remember to save the file once you finished.
*Changing the Logo/Image that appears on Kaboom
In order for Kaboom to display your site's logo, you will
first have to create your own ".bmp" file.
A ".bmp" or bitmap can be created using the most basic graphics
editing programs. In actual fact the ".gif" images that appear
on your web site are a type of bitmap and it is usually easy to save these
".gifs" as ".bmps" using a program such as MS Paint.
Another important consideration when creating your logo is to remember
that the ".bmp" file must have the same dimensions as the "Win4Win.bmp"
it is replacing. The size of this file and the one you create must be
100 x 50 (100 pixels wide and 50 pixels high).
Once you have created your ".bmp" file save it with a file
name that corresponds to the name you entered in the "spon.txt"
file earlier. Place the file in the same folder on your machine that you
found the "spon.txt" file and Kaboom will load it into the program
on startup.
When you have finished, save the file and remember to place your bitmap
image in the same folder Kaboom was installed in.
Changing the background and text color.
Once you have made the above changes, you can change the background color
to compliment your new image. Go to "Preferences" and select
"Diary color".
The text that is displayed can be also be altered in the same way by
selecting "Preferences " and then select "Text Color".
Once you have chosen a color combination, exit. Kaboom has now saved
your color selection into the "epoch.config" file and will be
loaded each time you or anyone else uses Kaboom again. Please note:
Do not change the epoch.config file directly!
Last but not least
Now that you have Kaboom looking just the way you want it you need to
offer it to your web surfers. This is done by supplying them with the
3 files you have just modified.
The 3 files that you have changed are:
- spon.txt
- epoch.config
- image.bmp - the logo/photo image that you created for your Kaboom

You can offer these altered files to your surfers in two ways:
- If you would like to us to create an installer file which contains
your altered files all you need to do is to e-mail them to kaboominstallers@win4win.com
.Your own kaboom.zip file containing your install file will be mailed
back to you within two days.
- If you would like to do-it-your self, rezip your Kaboom.zip file containing
the files you modified and offer it to your surfers. When using this
method it is important to remember that if your users are to see your
logo, colors and links, it should be clearly explained to them that
they must copy your changed files to the folder Kaboom was installed
in (by default this will be at C:\Program Files\Kaboom_v55), effectively
replacing the ones created on installation.
Good luck.
